History:

Modern Bengaluru ( Previously Bangalore)  was founded by a vassal of the Vijayanagara Empire, Kempe Gowda I, who built a mud-brick fort and a Nandi Temple in the proximity of modern Bengaluru in 1537. Yelahanka is one of the oldest towns in Karnataka and it is believed that it has a history of more than 500 years. It is the home town for the ruling king called Kempegowda (under a provision given by Krishnadevaraya) who built Bengalurru City. Kempe Gowda referred to the new town as his "gandubhūmi" or "Land of Heroes

Weather and Climate:

Due to its high elevation, Bengaluru usually enjoys a more moderate climate throughout the year, although occasional heat waves can make things very uncomfortable in the summer.The coolest month is January with an average low temperature of 15.1 °C and the hottest month is April with an average high temperature of 33.6 °C

Language:

Kannada is the official language spoken in Bengaluru. English is the second highest spoken language and all the corporate enterprises and civil bodies function in both Kannada as well as English.

Culture:

Dasara, a traditional celebration of the old Kingdom of Mysore, is the state festival and is celebrated with great vigour. The city celebrates its most important and oldest festival, "Karaga Shaktyotsava" or Bangalore Karaga. Deepavali, the "Festival of Lights", transcends demographic and religious lines and is another important festival. Other traditional Indian festivals such as Ganesh Chaturthi, Ugadi, Sankranthi, Eid ul-Fitr, and Christmas are also celebrated.
